WORKSHOPS

Dog Agility

Our Agility for Pet Dogs workshop in September 2015 instructed by Dawn Ash BSc (Hons), APDT, KCAI member was a great success and enjoyed by many of our clients.  I think Dawn may have been surprised by the liberty our dogs enjoyed but this was a group that played with each other everyday.  It was a very useful exercise for the group to achieve new skills under expert guidance ensuring their safety and wellbeing was met whilst having fun.

Tellington Touch Workshop

We had our very first Tellington Touch Workshop at Cutters Canines in July 2009. The course was run by Hayley Price and was covered by Your Dog in Dog Diaries. We hold several workshops a year. Keep your eyes peeled for events. Planned events are: relationship building for both horses and dogs, rider confidence, agility, neurolingual programming, aromotherapy, reiki and even animal communication. If you would like us to host an event or you would like to suggest a topic, please contact us.

Natural Horsemanship

We make sure your animals are having as good a time as you are and are treated like the highly sentient beings they are.

We have had many experts come and give lessons, workshops on alternative horsemanship at Cutters Canines & Equines including Ben Hart, Charlie Wilson, Rachel Jefferson and James Sturgeon (USA),  We even took the show on the road and held a informative clinic in Mercia, Spain (courtesy of Hilary Martin).

Spanish Clinic

Working with her lovely appaloosa and Spanish rescue horses we demonstrated the importance of ground skills and talented rider/trainer Rachel Jefferson shared her ability on how to push through problems without frightening the horse.

Life Skills and Relationship Building for Dogs

Dogs:  Level 1 Taking the show on the road

This training is focussed on taking the skills that you have learnt into a different environmental context. The course will entail real life situations where your dog's learn the following exercises below with different distractions. This course is most suited to those dogs that are ready for the next level of learning or have the foundation down but are starting to test those boundaries when distractions are higher or when they are mixing with other dogs and people. To include travel on a bus or train and remaining settled when we have our pub lunch (we deserve it).

However, a pre-requisite of this course is that your dogs should be able to have a reasonable recall when out and about with you when there are no distractions, and be able to wait for 20 seconds when you move away 4 paces most times with no distractions. Most importantly though they must not be aggressive with other dogs or people as liberal socialisation and recalling from play will be a major feature of this class.

Life Skills and Relationship building for Horses

This two-day course will concentrate on building your relationship with your horses and spending some quality time with them. It will concentrate on obstacle exploration, trailer loading, and ground skills. Particular emphasis will be placed on any problems your horse and you have in general handling. This is not a ridden class and all work will be in hand.

The second day will be putting all the skills you have learnt into another environmental context and we will take the horses out and about into our lovely countryside and woods near by. Importance of exploring their neighbourhood will be discussed and their need to see you as a secure base.  Part of the day will consider ways to build your bond through touch, learning to listen and walk in synchronicity and to learn how to observe if your horses are distressed or in pain.  Being on the ground next to them will truly enhance your relationship and you will be amazed what a difference this makes in just two days.
